More SPLAT Activities 2009

Children around the district have been having fun, being artistic at our summer workshops. Places can still be booked for the activities below, by phoning South Northants Council Leisure team on 01327 322335 or 322078 Monday to Friday 9am to 5.30pm:

Crafty Weavers

Environmentally themed art workshops using natural and locally sourced materials with professional artist Charlotte Ashman. Enjoy making a web from handspun sheep’s wool to take home or weave a large scale story in the grass. Crafts bus at outdoor locations, indoor hall if wet. £6

Musicals Megamix

Three days with Lisa Bisgrove and Kat Stephens of Athena Stage School, learning dance routines and singing to numbers from the latest shows (Hairspray, Sister Act, Jersey Boys, Wicked and others). Family and friends can be invited to see the showcase on the final afternoon. Wear suitable clothes for moving, non-slip footwear, bring a water bottle and packed lunch Wednesday (or use the café). 9 to 16yrs. Advance booking essential. £35

Children’s Summer Activities 2009

SPLAT - Summer Activities 2009

This year’s SPLAT programme is packed full of Sports, Play, Leisure and ArTs activities for five to sixteen year-olds. Brochures for the Summer Activities 2009 have been delivered to local schools and the lines are now open for bookings!

Councillor Rosie Herring, portfolio holder for Leisure, said, "Our SPLAT programme has something for everything and this year parents can pay over the phone using their credit or debit cards. New in 2009 are our Play Rangers and their sessions are free!"

The Play Rangers will be visiting a range of villages over the summer and in addition ActivityZone will also be going to many villages throughout South Northants, including Grange Park (MUGA) on Tuesdays 28th July, 11th for 5-10 year-olds and 25th August for 11-16 year-olds.

There are trips to Pitsford Water, Everdon Activity Centre, Stantonbury Athletics Stadium and Franklins Gardens, home of the Saints. There is a choice of Sports Camps with football, athletics, cycling, basketball, cricket and tennis all on offer.

Creative and performing arts workshops include Musicals Megamix (at Caroline Chisholm School 17th-19th August), Join the Circus, Creative Photography, Crafty Weavers, Fashion Jewellery, and opportunities to get very messy and colourful with modroc, papier mache, paint and collage materials, creating pots, masks and monsters!

Summer Activities at the Willison Centre

Intensive Swimming - As above We may put on extra lessons after the stroke technique session as we have had quite a good response. Jamie Leeson is also doing top up swimming the second week for year 6 going into year 7.

Disability Swim 1.00pm - 3.00pm

3rd August - 7th August
South Northants Concil are using our facilities for their own camps i.e., Badminton, Basketball, Football and Art.

24th August - 28th August 10.00am - 12 noon
Gymnastics.

We are obviously still open in the evenings as normal

Who: Ages 0 –12 (all welcome)

Carer: Please don't leave your children. We cannot take responsibility for them. Why not enjoy a free coffee & cake while they play? And if you've no kids, just come along for a drink. If possible, please walk to the event, leave your car at home, and be mindful of local residents
